| The first game of the campaign was a bit of an anti-climax for Town's new management duo. Town gave an excellent display for the first 30 minutes, matching the home side in every department, Col Anderson was unlucky with a rasping drive into the side netting and Danny Hannafin tried to score when Anderson was better positioned to tap in. Town's defence fell asleep from a free kick and conceded a soft goal to go one down, however we managed to stay at 1-0 until half-time. The second half started in the worst possible way, within 3 minutes of the restart Town were 2-0 down when Colin Iley drilled home a superb 20-yard drive giving keeper Psani no chance. It was from this point that heads dropped and we lost what control we had. Sub Gabby Radu missed from 6 yards out after being set up by Shardha, had that gone in, at 2-1 things may have been different. Stauart Jackson won a titanic battle battle with home striker Campbell and just nicked MOM from Anderson. Town conceded yet again from a sloppy cross bundled in on the far post 4-0. Everyone now knows what the task in hand is, Dawson and Speight will have their managerial powers tested early in the season and the players must respond to the challenge. Synners were not four goals better than Town and the scoreline flattered them somewhat, so roll Tuesday at South Shields. |
