Tow Law Town 3 Northallerton Town 1 |

| A weakened Northallerton team went to Tow Law tonight, and faced a huge task as Tow Law have not lost in 10. The wind however made this match a farce. Tow Law had the wind first half and used it to their advantage, rarely letting Town out of their half. The breakthrough came on 15 minutes when an error from Gustavson let Tow Law in to score. They created more chances, and a very unlucky Wolfe let in the second as an unbelievable gust of wind took the ball over his head from a free kick. The end of the first half was an absolute farce, the worst referee I have seen in the ANL this season blew for half time when Danny Earl was through on goal, to the dismay of the Town fans. (HT 2-0) However the second half was the complete opposite, Town came out looking for a breakthrough, however ex-Town keeper Jack Norton made two smart saves from O'Gloonan and Hume. However it was his mistake that let Town back in it when Jos DeSilva saw Norton of his line and scored a sensational lob from 40 yards. However after this it all went down hill. We didn't try to play football at all, we just used the long ball, which completely failed. In the end Tow Law scored on the counter attack to finish the game. Tonight not many of the players looked up for it in windy consitions, which, to be honest made the game a complete farce. A very young team was put out as well, and none of the young players knew howto play in the bitterly cold and windy conditions. Bettson was outstanding again as he played like 2 players, bailing out Gustavson many times who had yet another horror show. Godwin Douglas hade a rare off-day too. Earl battled away with no joy, however new signing Jos DeVries played excellently on the left hand side, and capped a fine performance with a goal. Our inconsistant form continues, however we can look forward to playing already relegated Jarrow on Saturday with ambition, an absolutely must win game. |
