| At last lady luck turned her favours towards the Town, with 7 regular first choice regulars unavailable for varying reasons Andy Toman put out a side that on paper looked doomed to defeat, but not so. Everyone from 16 year old goalkeeping debutant Michael Thackray did everything the fans would have wanted. For the third game in a row the lads battled from start to finish and more than matched their high-flying visitors. Town played with a committment and drive that was impressive. For long periods Town dominated the game and only three superb saves from the Benfield keeper kept them in the game, saves from Allen, Hume and the ever-improving Bettson, who was man of the match. Town clinched the points on 92 minutes when Danny Earl bundled the ball over the line. For once Andy Toman will have a few selection problems at Shildon on Saturday ...what a nice change for him.
