MATCH REPORT
Middlesbrough 5 Northallerton Town 0
North Riding Senior Cup Final
Tuesday 24 April 2007
The night started badly for Town fans (locked out early on) and got worse after 25 minutes when Porritt scored from a close range shot, Grounds made it 2-0 from a corner on 33 minutes. Chillis had two great chances to pull something back, first with a Karl Charlton cross and then with a one-on-one with the Boro keeper. Boro scored directly from a corner on 43 minutes. HT 3-0. Town came out in the second half with all guns blazing and more than matched their Premiership counterparts, however Boro scored two more goals on 85 and 90 minutes. Final score 5-0. Town played well and did not deserve the 5 goals against. However, this Boro side had 4 under-18 England internationals who will be playing Premiership football next season, so take nothing away from the lads who battled hard tonight. My man of the match was Stuart Jackson - some well timed tackles and clever play.
