| Town suffered yet another defeat today at the hands of Dunston. It all went wrong inside the first five minutes for Town, when they failed to deal with a corner and Preen capitalised on another Wolfe error to cash in (0-1). After this Town came back into it, and it was only thanks to some quite unbelieveable goalkeeping that Dunston kept the lead, saving a great strike from Danny Earl and then tipping the follow-up from Green onto the post. From the resulting corner, he made yet another save at the near post from a Hume header. But, as so often for Town, luck didn't go their way, and minutes later Dunston found Dixon unmarked at the back post, who struck past Wolfe. (0-2). Just before half-time Bythway hit the underside of the bar from an excellent 25-yard free kick (HT 0-2). After the break, Town showed heart once again, with Goodwin missing a glorious chance to bring it back to 2-1, however he struck the ball straight at the Dunston keeper. Again Town could not score and were punished, when Dunston virtually ended the game when Laws scored (0-3). After this the game looked to fizzle out, but Dunston scored from a corner when the ball went straight through to Swanston to score (0-4). The scoreline flattered Dunston in a game which could have been so different, however a loss is a loss, and next week is turning in to a must win game for the Black & Whites against West Auckland, who are also at the wrong end of the table. Town had Bythway back from suspension today, and as usual he gave his all to the team. However, again Town missed Hinton and need him back desperately for the game next week along with Karl Jankovicz, who was missed at the back. |
