| What a result this was, although I believe Whitley Bay will win the league, Billy Town are obviously up there for a reason. They were poor today and didn't look like making the most of the wind behind them after the break, apart from 2 low saves by Dobbsy when it was 1-0.
The first half Town had the wind behind them, the first goal came from a corner swung to the back post by Charlo for Jacko to head home, great start. Billy pressed for the majority of the half but IMO Jacko played his best game for us yet as he headed everything away, also Waller was equally as good, Diamo battling away in midfield and Dom putting his foot through everything. I was worried that one goal wouldn't be enough as the wind was so intense it put paid to our efforts to stand behind the goals in either half, and Dobbs couldn't get the goal kicks to the halfway line, but a battling performance for the 2nd half prevented Billy from having any clear chances, although they didn't make the most of opportunities to swing the ball in on goal at free-kicks and corners etc much to my surprise.
In the last 5 minutes a breakaway led to a corner that Billy didn't clear, the goalie who IMO looked dodgy all day flapped at a few crosses and Charlo headed into an empty net. last minute and Anderson played a ball behind the defence for Charlo to run from 30 yards and slot past the keeper to put a finish on a 3-0 win. Which Town will turn up on weds night against Blue Star????
A special mention to young lad up front, Anderson i think his name is, what a battler this boy is! he never gave up on a single ball all day and really harrassed the Billy defence and managed to keep the ball, with some more experience if he can start scoring goals he will do well for us. a proper 100% player. |
