| Town's young team finally came of age today with a strong home win against a very physical Terriers side. Town battled toe-to-toe with a strong visitors side who came to out-muscle Town. However they were in for a surprise as we stood our ground and matched their physical endeavour and, more importantly, outplayed them.
The 0-0 half-time scoreline did not reflect the play as Town were thwarted by Bedlington's keeper on three occasions as efforts by Luke Bythway, Paul Hinton & Anth Hume were beaten away. The second half was again a very physical affair but Town's football was rewarded when Paul Hinton scored with a header (1-0). The goal gave the lads confidence and they pushed on, the second goal came from great piece of football, Antony Green raced passed his full-back on the right and his pinpoint cross was met by a bullet header from Luke Bythway (2-0). A late penalty from Hinton as Hume was pulled down in the box sealed the win. Two wins on the trot and players are gaining confidence, Hume upfront was excellent with his non-stop work rate, the centre backs Fairlamb and new boy John Barker were strong in the tackle and marshalled the defence, midfield looked much stronger, Davey Cooke's aggression showed up and Luke Bythway was back to his early season form. Andy Toman was quietly pleased with his teams performance, we now go to Spennymoor on Wednesday night to try to keep our run going.
