| Town's poor start to the season continued tonight with a lacklustre performance against the Wearside League team.
This is just another chapter of weak performances that is starting to become the norm. Manager Andy Toman was livid with this showing, he told the website "I have given these players every chance, I thought tonight would have been a perfect opportunity for these lads to prove they are worth continuing with, that has been proved wrong, now we are in the process of bringing in three new faces with experience of ANL football by the weekend. I will not allow this to continue". Town were two down by half time, even a partial floodlight failure could not deter the visitors, who showed the determination and comittment Town sadly lacked. Town got a goal back from a goalmouth scramble by way of an own goal and, it has to be said, Town pressurised the visitors goal with Anthony Hume winning most things in the air and two goal line clearances. The final nail in the coffin came 8 minutes from time as the onrushing forward was brought down by Clements trying to win the ball for which he got a yellow card. The penalty was converted (FT 1-3). |
