| Town restored Danny Earl to the front line from the start, Hetherington replaced the injured Walker at right back, Paul Hinton was suspended. Andy Toman recognised the power of the visitors attack by starting with a 4-5-1 formation in an attempt to curb their goalscoring power, however his tactics fell apart after 7 minutes when his pre-match instructions went unheard as the visitors took the lead (0-1). Within 16 minutes Town were two down as again as in the past midfield players stood on guard duty as the opposition flooded past them to make it 0-2. Town were under the cosh for the rest of the half and had only Jack Norton to thank for keeping them in the game until half time. The second half followed this annoying pattern we have developed, whereby our second half performance is far superior to the first and against this opposition it needed to be. Town were far more positive and restricted the visitors control of the ball, however we failed to threaten (FT 0-2). Andy Toman is mystified with his team's slow start to games, he said "I am concerned that we don't seem capable of hitting the ground running, no matter what we as coaches say to players when they cross the line it's down to them, those who can't comply won't stay, it's as simple as that". The boss is confident he can sort out the problems and he has the full support of the club in his efforts. |
