| Town were literally robbed today when the Referee added on 9 minutes of injury time to allow the home side a 2-1 win. Andy Toman made one change from the midweek win at Dunston, Paul Hinton coming in as striker for Steve Butterworth. Town dominated in the early stages of the game with Luke Bythway having efforts on target after 5,9 & 19 minutes, but it was Danny Earle that posed the most danger, with his speedy runs and excellent ball control he terrorised the home defence. On 42 minutes a superb three man move started with Danny Earl's surging run into the box, he passed to Luke Bythway who set up Michael Chui who failed to score from 6 yards due to a fantastic save from the home keeper. This was our best chance of the first half (HT 0-0). The second half was an even affair with both teams having chances, Town however had the better of things until the 83rd minute when Synners Neil Campbell broke on the left side of the box and drilled the ball across goal, in the melee that followed the ball was deflected into the net (1-0). It would have been easy to accept defeat and for heads to go down, but Town's young lions stormed back immediately, as a cross came in Paul Hinton leapt to head in from 8 yards, no more than Town deserved (1-1). Synners keeper had treatment on an ankle injury which lasted for three minutes and resulted in him leaving the field. As the home side pushed for the winner Town came under increasing pressure and could not hold possession as the back came back at them. A Synners free-kick smashed against the bar on 89 minutes as we entered injury time. We still hung on as the minutes passed, on 98 minutes Town keeper Clements a made an oustanding save from Campbell which resulted in a corner and, as last Tuesday night, it proved to be our downfall as Sinners scrambled the winner from the corner. This was a most unjust result, Town deserved a replay out of this performance, however we have proved in our last two games that we can live with the so-called 'bigger' clubs. None of Town's band of fans could be disappointed with our performance today, it was the scoreline that hurt.
