| Andy Toman made changes after Saturdays defeat, Danny Earl started in midfield with Jason Newall and new signing Michael Chui with Steve Butterworth up front.
1.Paul Clement, 2.Chris Walker, 3.Mickey Ward, 4.Lee Bythway, 5.Lee Lenaghan, 6.Daniel Earl, 7.Jason Newall, 8.Simon Dodsworth, 9.Steven Butterworth, 10.Michael Chui, 11.Luke Bythway. The game started in torrential rain and Town were nearly one down within 3 minutes and only a smart save from keeper Paul Clements saved them. However on 5 miutes Luke Bythway was pulled down 20 yards from goal, he then stepped up to drive a powerful shot into the net (0-1). The home side should have scored on 11 minutes when a near post header failed to hit the target. Town came under severe pressure for the next twenty minutes, the pitch was making football difficult and a long effort at the Town goal skidded off the surface and Clements did well to put it out for a corner which was cleared. Then on 44 minutes Town attacked down the left, Luke Bythway struck a shot which the keeper could not hold and Michael Chui scored from the rebound (Half-Time 0-2). Toman re-organised the troops and we became much more competitive and controlled the ball much better in the wet conditions. Town went three up on 55 minutes when a back pass held up on the wet surface and Danny Earl nipped in
to round the keeper and hit the empty net (0-3). Town continued to play well and Luke Bythway was unlucky not to score when he won the ball 25 yards out with the keeper stranded, his goal bound lob was cleared off the line. Though Town did not have to wait to long for more rewards, on 82 minutes Danny Earl again was on hand to convert a sharp chance (0-4). At this point it was only a matter of seeing out time, however the Ref had other ideas. As Dunston players dropped like flies around the box, he gleefully awarded free kicks which produced two late goals. Final Score: 2 - 4 |
