| Town ground out a useful 3 points the other night, if not for pride but also maybe to make sure we finish in 13th and James 69 Henry French wins the positional sweepstake. The opening few minutes were a bit cagey until Chilly picked up the ball, he threaded the ball between the back four for Diamo to latch onto and slot past the keeper in the far corner off the post. This seemed to surprise Benfield a bit and the rest of the half was pretty even with half chances for both teams. Two saves in particular from Dobbs, one at point blank and a 'one on one' kept Town in front.
Second half and it was mostly Benfield playing more direct and willing to run from deep at the Town back four. Town were restricted to counter attacks and maybe should have 2nd on a few occasions but for wayward finishing, and slight lack of composure in the box. The last 20 minutes was all Benfield as they pumped balls into the box at every opportunity with Carter looking strong at the back, heading everything away.
Just as Ian Dobbs had said "looks like were gonna hang on" the ref gives a pen. I didn't see it so can't comment, but Sam saved the shot to his left and also the follow up. Sam also made several 'one on one' saves to keep us in front, and we hung on for a good away win. |
