| Towns first game under the new management team ended in a satisfactory victory. Goals from DAVID COOKE (2)and one each from DANNY HAWKINS & JAMES HARMSWORTH proved to much for the visitors.
Town dominated the early stages of the game playing some controlled football, moving the ball quickly into attacking positions ,but could not find the target until DANNY HAWKINS finished a three man move to give Town the lead after 13 minutes. Town were on target again in 20 minutes when Scot McNicol crossed for DAVID COOKE to score with a magnificent overhead kick. Town should have gone further ahead when awarded a penalty which was well saved by the visitors keeper. Murton then hit back scoring very quickly after the penalty miss. This inspired them into a period of pressure which Town did well to survive from, going in 2-1 up at the break. The second half started with Andy Toman ringing the changes, again Town dominated much of the play during the half and deservedly went 3-1 up when JAMES HARMSWORTH scored on 55 mins. This looked the likely score until Murton got a fluke goal, Town's defence cleared the ball only for it to cannon off the striker and loop over the keeper into the net 3-2. Town kept their composure and continued to play the ball confidently and were rewarded when DAVID COOKE sealed the result with a late strike..4-2.
So we move onto Scarborough Athletic on Wednesday and we can expect a sterner test from them.
