MATCH REPORT
Hebburn 1 - 1 Northallerton Town
STL Northern League Division 1
Saturday 13 February 2010
13/02/10 - Away v Hebburn Town reporter Martin Collins On the back of three consecutive wins Northallerton travelled to Hebburn full of confidence but it was the home team who dominated the early stages as their passing and movement created a number of chances. It was no surprise when Hebburn striker Gary McCartney opened the scoring from close range when another passing move opened up the defence. Passes were going astray and apart from a Chillingsworth header that went narrowly wide from a Thompson cross Northallerton created nothing of note. There seemed nothing in Nick Lyons 40th minute tackle on a Hebburn player but he reacted furiously pushing Lyons to the ground and earning a red card. The referee was close to the incident and had no choice but to send the player off. Town suddenly sparked into life and created a number of half chances , enough to be optimistic for the second half. Half time 1-0. Northallerton dominated much of the second half making the extra man count but they found the Hebburn keeper in superb form. He somehow kept out a close range effort from Martin Butterworth and soon after saved from Carl Chillingsworth. The pressure paid off when Chillingsworth shot against the post and Richard Thompson fired home the rebound from a narrow angle. Nick Lyons was foiled by the keeper , Craig Winter's header was cleared off the line and Chillingsworth had another effort scrambled away. With 10 minutes to go Danny Chapman received a second booking and was sent off but Town still continued to create chances. In injury time Danny Shoulders free kick went over the bar , the game ended 1-1. The players were disappointed not to have won having created so many chances in the second half but after Hebburn's first half display a draw was probably a fair result Team - Craggs ( Kell) , Shoulder , Dacombe , Chapman , Winter , Hardy (Holliday) , Thompson , Lyons , Butterworth , Chillingsworth , Allison ( Hickman) Subs- Grant , Hemingway , Hickman , Holliday , Kell M O M - D Shoulder
