Northallerton Town 4 Newcastle Blue Star 3 |
| Arngrove Northern League Division 1 |
| Wednesday 21 March 2007 |

| £4 entrance fee, us Yorkshire folk love value for money and that's what we got at the Calvert Stadium tonight. 7 goals and a controversial referee were all included in the turnstile price. Town took the lead against big spending Unibond wanabees Blue Star on 20 minutes when Carl Charlton chased a lost ball and took it from the hands of the keeper with a well-placed header. Tait equalised on 31 minutes after Jacko was deemed to handle the ball, strangest handball I have ever seen. On 40 minutes Carl Charlton crossed from the left, Colin Anderson's shot was well blocked, but Lee Bowes scored from the loose ball. 2-1 at half time. Tait scored his second on 54 with a low shot that beat Dobbs, and Blue Star took the lead on 64 after Dixon scored, unmarked from a well-placed free kick. Chillingsworth equalised on 69 with a fantastic header after a Charlton cross, then on 76 Diamond was clearly tripped in the area and stepped up to score what was to be the winner from the penalty spot. Final score 4-3. Overall another fantastic result against another big spending high flying Northern League Club, Town had a perfect blend of experience and youth and with this commitment can beat anyone on their day. |
