| This very important game for both clubs turned into a nightmare Town as the crashed to a heavy defeat. The result does however flatter the away side the gap between the teams was not as big as the result would suggest.
For long periods of the first half there was little in it until the visitors took the lead as a long high ball was misjudged by Campbell his header put in the prolific Alan Hogg who made no mistake 0-1 . The game continued is similar vain both clubs having and losing possesion on a regular basis . HT 0-1. However our half time cup of tea chat was how long it would be before we the goal back, not how will we stop them scoring another four.Thats exactly what they did , soon after the restart Jackson handled in the box Hogg took the penalty 0-2. Then within minutes a dodgy off side let the visitors in again 0-3. Ashingto wen 0-4 when Campbell hauled "The Hogg " down in the box no surprise when he got up to convert the spot kick.Town got a consolation late in the game 1-4 ,but our friendly Linesman allowed play to continue and for the rout to be completed 1-5.
Unfortunately Martyn Speight had reached a decision to resign after the game ,feeling he could do no more with his squad,in addition he was feeling the pressure on a personal basis this was also a factor in his decision.
The club would like to place on record their gratitude to Martyn for his work and committment to the cause and wish him well in the future. Coach Neil Campbell also left the club. |
