Northallerton Town 0 - 3 Bedlington Terriers |
| STL Northern League Division 1 |
| Saturday 22 November 2008 |
|
| Today had to have been the worst performance seen by a Town side for a long time in a game that was seen as a must win before. It looked good for Northallerton early on as John Ryan missed from 6 yards when it was much easier to score. It all went downhill from here though. Jackson was booked for a needlessly reckless tackle, and was lucky not to go. Purcifer then took a bad touch in defence but Pisani came off his line to clear the danger brilliantly. 10 minutes later Bedlington got the break-through when Robson thigh trapped the ball, before volleying in from 25 yards out leaving Pisani no chance. Bell could have added to the tally for the visitors but after beating two men put the ball over the bar. HT 1-0. Northallerton were even worse after the break and Jackson was sent off for a second yellow after another needless tackle, and from the resulting free kick Scott Bell scored to finish the home team off. John Ryan could have reduced the deficit at the other end but the Bedlington keeper made an excellent save. Pisani made 2 other good saves to keep the score at 2-0, but in injury time was beaten again when Bedlington substitute Dodsworth rounded off a neat move with Gary Bell to leave Town in tatters. Bishops next, a real must win game to pull us away from the drop zone. |
