| Northallerton bagged a victory in the North Riding Senior Cup tonight, however it did come with a scare. Northallerton seemed to have all of the play in the first half, however it was Thornaby who pulled ahead through Hodgson just before half time. Northallerton came out after the break and played much better, Sean Joseph was the provider for both goals with Steve Roberts finishing off both, the first a pin-point header and the second a neat finish from 8 yards. He had numerous other chances to complete his hat-trick, hitting the post with a volley and missing a one on one. Gell could have levelled the game for Thornaby, but Barford made an excellent save to deny him. Substitute Hannafin missed a one on one, but Chillingsworth finished Thornaby off with a neat finish a minute from the end. Northallerton will play either Nunthorpe or Teesside Athletic in the next round. |
