Northallerton Town 0 - 2 Newcastle Benfield BP |
| STL Northern League Division 1 |
| Wednesday 29 October 2008 |
|
Town lost this game without ever really being under the cosh from the high flying visitors. Benfield took the lead with bizzare goal, a cross come shot came into the box and evaded everyone to end up in the net with Town defenders pointing the finger at each other (HT 0-1).
This continued in the second half with the visitors having the better of things without really testing Town's defence in which Steve Purcifer's performance won him the Minster Northallerton MOM award. A miss-timed tackle in the box lead to Benfield clinching the points from the spot (FT 0-2).
Town never really got going tonight with one or two players off the pace, they will need to pick up their game for Saturday's visit to Ashington as they cannot depend on the results of other clubs to maintain their league position. |
