Seaham Red Star 0 - 2 Northallerton Town |

Town's depleted squad gave a impressive performance in this excellent 0-2 win, goals from Roberts with an 18-yard drive on 57 minutes and a 90th minute winner from Scott McNicol sealed the points.
The first half was an uneventful affair with Town comfortably handling the home side. After the break Town took control of the game and on 57 minutes a McNicol cross was met by Steve Roberts 18 yards out and he smashed the ball past the Seaham keeper (0-1). Town keep their shape brilliantly and worked hard to minimise the home side efforts's. New keeper Jody Barford made one excellent save as the ball emerged from a packed defence he pushed the ball away. On 90 minutes McNicol escaped the offside and beat the advancing keeper off the underside of the bar (0-2)
Steve Purcifer organised the back four along with Crossman, Jackson and Walker. Paul Jack was moved into the left side of midfield and looked much more at home playing there. New boy Jamie Walton put himself about, putting a foot in when needed. Sean Joseph and Scott McNicol along with Gabby Radu did everything expected of them. A fine win, full credit to the lads.Credit must also go to Stu Dawson & Martyn Speight who have worked all week trying to improve and strengthen the squad and their search will continue. |
